SNOOKER and billiards players from the Chester area have been cueing up to get their end-of-season awards and trophies.

The Chester and District Billiards and Snooker League held two presentation evenings this year.

The billiards prize night was at Waverton Institute and it saw doubles teams from the league’s various clubs competing against each other.

In what proved to be a popular competition, Mal Hughes and Shaun Davis of Connah’s Quay Naval Club ran out winners.

The competition was then followed by the prize-giving ceremony where the league’s title winners were honoured.

Three days later, the snooker evening was held at the Conservative Club in Chester.

The awards ceremony was nestled between the quarter, semi-final and the final of the Cobblestone Driveways Handicap – a new competition for 2012 where all teams playing in the league were invited to enter one player to compete.

It all culminated in a nail-biting final between Chris Roberts (Liberal Club) and Gareth Allen (Wings Club).

Roberts, who received a 52 start in each of the frames, won the best-of-three-frames encounter 2-0 thanks to two black ball finishes.

The league’s president Colin Hargreaves was on hand to present trophies to the season’s league and competition winners.
