ANGLING: MARK Greasley was in top form when he fished the final match of the year for Cheshire Police AC.

Pegged at Lloyd's Meadow Fishery, he took 27lbs of small carp to equal the club record of six match wins in a season. He finished well ahead of his nearest rivals, Frank Lythgoe who had 18-7-0 of carp and Neil Jukes with 14-8-0.

Les Picken was the leader in the midweek Burton Mere Fishery open match with a carp-based 41-3-0, just ahead of Steve Boyd's 40-8-0 of carp and bream with Mike Ryan third with 37-10-0 of carp.

The Sunday match went to Phil Hardman, who took 31-13-0 of carp from Simon Waller's 28-7-0 and John Turner's 28-5-0.

Phil Roberts won the Royal Mail, Chester AC match at Linmere Fishery with 19-12-0 of carp and bream, well ahead of Ian Jones' barbelbased 12-14-0 and Bob Carvelle's carp-based 19-9-0.

No-one could catch Paul Spencer in the Eger -ton Arms AC match on the Severn at Monkmoor, where he landed three barbel up to 6-4-0 for a total of 21-15-0. Paul Morrelle was next with chub and some small fish for 3-6-0 ahead of Phil Dawson's 0-13-0.

Shaun Sandham was top in the midweek Tarvin Sands AC match on home waters, putting 38-10-0 of carp and tench on the scales, ahead of Les Picken's 20-6-0 of carp and roach and Alan Stevens with a 17-6-0 mixture.

Gin-clear water affected catches in the Piper AS match on the Severn at Ironbridge with Robert White taking 3-8-0 of small fish to beat Martin Berisford's 1-4-0 and Phil White's 0-10-0.

The Rake and Pikel AS went to the Severn on the National length for their match, and Jeff Williams was up front with 8lbs of roach to beat Jimmy Page's 6-10-0 of roach and Peter Griffiths's 5-9-4 of roach.

Malpas AS again chose local club waters and victory went to Keith Arrowsmith with 8-6-0 of roach and crucians from Alan Jones with 2-4-0 and Cyril Roberts with 0-8-0.

Father and son led the field in the Lobol AC match on the Trent and Mersey Canal at Billinge. Dave and Damian Wilcocks each had 1-0-8 of gudgeon to beat Kevin Cooke, who had 0-15-8 of gudgeon.

Chris Lawton landed 2-15-12 of small roach to win the Willaston AC match on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal at Burscough, with Mike Lomax runner-up with 2-3-0. Colin Williams was third with 1-10-10.

Chester Telecom AC fished their final match of the year at the Border Fishery where Dave Smith used pellet to take 34-8-0 of carp in front of Andy Hunter's 29lbs of carp and Aan Blencowe's 28-8-0. The overall champion for the year was Winston Duckers.

Billy Bristow ruled in the Manley AC match at Old Hall Farm pool, thanks to 5-14-0 of tench and orfe, from John Bristow's 3lbs of skimmers and Steve Roxburgh's 1-14-0 of chub.

The two Chester Tackle Locker teams fishing on Sunday gave a good account of themselves in two matches. In the North Wales Winter League on the Sankey-St Helens Canal at Warrington, the top weigher was Carl Fletcher with 3-11-0 of roach and skimmers, backed up by Bernie Leatherbarrow's 3-10-3 to give the team fourth place.

At Heronbrook Fishery Winter League, they were eighth out of 30 teams, led by Adrian Paddock's 34lbs of carp and supported by Steven Hughes with 33-8-0 and Pete Ashton with 20-4-FISHERIES NEWS Meadow: Dave Jones, of Upton, fished a hare's ear to take a 5-2-0 rainbow.

Burton Mere: Gary Jones, of Neston, lured a 16-3-0 common carp to a boilie.

Milton Green: Frank Doran, of Chester, bagged 70lbs of carp up to 2lbs to worm or maggots, fished over pellets.

Harthill: Graham Hodkinson, of Malpas, lured six carp between 3lbs and 5-8-0 and a mirror carp of 9lbs to luncheon meat.

Four Oaks: Pete Ashton, of Chester, netted 25lbs of carp, roach and chub to worm or caster. Dearnford Hall: Mike Wallace, of Chester, fished a hot-spot damsel fly to take an 8-3-0 rainbow, and Clive Grove, of Ellesmere Port, took a brownie of 6-1-0 to a similar lure. 0.
