SHOWJUMPING will try to live up to its name at Chester Racecourse today as some of the sport’s best riders put on a show for spectators in the British Masters Invitational.

This event has been well publicised after the Showjumping Association revealed it intended to “sex-up” the sport at Chester in an attempt to attract a younger audience.

Featuring Cheshire’s own showjumping poster-girl Ellen Whitaker, the event has banished the stuffy hunting-style jackets, which have been replaced with polo shirts.

Riders will be introduced to the crowd to a fanfare of their favourite tunes while punters place bets on proceedings.

Entry starts at just £10 for general admission, with Grandstand prices set at £21 for adults, £15 for children.

Parking at the Racecourse will be £7.
