SQUASH: Chester RUFC slumped to a surprise defeat at struggling Warrington.
Henry Smitt - promoted to the first team due to captain Jonathan Clark's injury - was not at his best and, despite giving his all, went down 3-1 to Warrington's Rob Taylor.
Jonathan Davies was too good for Warrington captain Peter Astbury and quickly levelled the match.
A jaded Nick Gatward, playing at number three, went down 3-0 to a very enthusiastic Mike Pearson.
Chester levelled yet again as Jethro Binns returned to form with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Warrington's Tom Power. The match rested on the number ones with Chester's Alistair Walker, previously unbeaten but carrying an ankle problem, facing Warrington's Steve Coppinger.
With Walker clearly struggling with his movement, Coppinger got his best victory of the season, winning 3-0 to clinch the match for Warrington.
Chester's second team put up a brave performance in going down 3-2 at home to Rochdale. There were excellent wins for John Thompson and Sarah Kippax and some great efforts by Drewe Williams, Graham Slatter and Rob Wilkins.
