SPORT AWARDS: THE Wirral Sports Council will be hosting the Annual Sports Awards this year, to recognise the achievements of Wirral's dedicated sports people over the past 18 months and beyond.

The awards are open to anybody who resides in Wirral. The five categories include:

COACH OF THE YEAR: this award will be presented to a coach in recognition of their involvement, dedication and achieve-ment within their chosen sport.

CLUB OF THE YEAR: this award will be presented to the club who can demonstrate achievements/success and supports the development of players, coaches and volunteers within the club.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR: this award will be presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to their sport or club ie, committee member, fund raiser, administrator, official.

YOUNG SPORTS PERSON OF THE YEAR: this award will be presented to an individual, under 18, in recognition of their commitment and achievement in their chosen sport. Nominees should have achieved a high standard of performance at local, regional or national level.

SPORT, LIFE TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: this award will be presented to an individual who has provided an outstanding service to sport within Wirral.

Winners of each category will be invited as nominees to the Merseyside Annual Awards on October 31 2003 at the Moat House Hotel, Liverpool.
