ROUNDERS and tennis players from The Queen’s School are basking in the glory of a season to remember.

The Year 8 team, comprising Charlotte Enevoldson, Charlotte Robinson, Amrita Singh, Natalie Lewis, Olivia Williams, Georgina Alexander, Greta Speed, Arianne Scanlon-Jennings, Serena Grace, Jade Parker and Hattie Williams, twice saw their tournament postponed because of the wet weather.

Their wait, however, was not in vain as they beat Bishops’ High School, The King’s School, Blacon High School, The Catholic High School and Abbey Gate College to take the title in style.

The Year 9 side showed complete concentration, focus and skill to sweep aside Upton High School by six rounders to two-and-a-half in their final.

The team, consisting of captain Kimberley Meredith, Nia Jones, Alice Thompson, Orlaith Monk, Amy Williams, Elinor Godfrey, Emma Chow, Amy Clarkson, Beth Jones, Rachel Copley and Natalie Doyle, had previously overcome Bishop Heber High School, Catholic High, Blacon High and finally King’s, who they defeated seven-and-a-half to two-and-a-half in the semi-finals.

The Queen’s Year 7 side, comprising Faye Ewart, Denischa Shone, Harriet Wyatt, Aisla Cairns, Lily Tenner, Lowri Quarrell, Nina Daniels, Fiona Edge and Kitty Tunstall, finished as the Chester and District runners-up.

They beat Christleton High School, Catholic High and Queen’s Park High School before losing to King’s in the final.

The Queen’s Year 10 team, consisting of Amber Prothero, Gaby Tuite, D’arcy Tuite, Emma Naylor, Hayley Binns, Georgie Pym, Alice Pym, Alex Williams, Emily Noden, Nicola Kiely, Olivia Reynolds, Sophie Rao and Mollie Williams, also came second in their tournament.

They defeated Bishop Heber in the semi-finals but lost the final to Blacon High.

The Queen’s tennis aces were: Laura Swettenham, Hannah Roberts, Millie Tunstall, Lucy Fearnall, Alice Pym, Nicola Kiely, Victoria Gresty, Olivia Reynolds, Charlotte Enevoldson, Emily McBurney, Greta Speed and Jade Parker.
