NORTHWICH swimmer Harriet Milne is aiming for European glory in May.

The 15-year-old County High School, Leftwich, pupil will contest the Belgian Paralympics National Open at Antwerp in five events.

It's her biggest challenge yet but she is also in fine form this season having just won six silvers and a bronze - all in personal best times - at the National Disabled Championships at Sheffield.

Mum Lynn Woodward said: 'It was one of her best performances. She's on a roll.'

At Antwerp, Kingsley-based Harriet contests the 50m and 100m freestyle, 100m breaststroke and butterfly and the 200m individual medley.

Her preference is for breaststroke and she is coached by Mike Barnes at Northwich ASC, where she has been a member for four years since she started competitive swimming.

Harriet has a major gala at Nottingham next Wednesday and then it is down to hard training for the Belgium trip, which has been partly financed by her school.

The school has made a £100 donation from the PE department and a fund to support talented pupils.
