ATHLETICS: RUTH Pritchard steered West Cheshire AC to second spot at Trafford.

The Christleton High pupil posted a grade two time of 43.7 seconds for victory in her U15 girls' 300m to earn the Track Athlete of the Match prize.

And Ruth's performance helped her Chester and Ellesmere Port-based club wrap up their National Young Athletes Track and Field League season.

Ruth also claimed top spot in the discus with a best throw of 18.57m, alongside B-string clubmate Daisy Flynn Piercy who won with 16.77m.

Sian Kelman (12.7) and Daisy (13.2) won the 100m A and B races and Shona Valentine secured victory in the 200m (27.2) alongside B-eventer Emily Done, second with 28.8.

Kerry Riley won the 800m with 2:31.5 and Sian won the long jump with a best leap of 4.79m.

Emily Fisher launched the javelin to a winning mark of 18.57m and won the B 1,500m in 5:32.8.

Bryony Potter won the B 75m hurdles in 17.3, and Georgina Wright posted 5:06.2 for second spot in the 1,500m.

Daisy Flynn Piercy anchored the 4x100m relay team of Sian Kelman, Shona Valentine and Emily Done to success.

Abbie Kirk showed her blistering pace to earn the U13 relay team of Leah Ferrie, Danielle Erskine and Emily Clarke a 58.5secs victory.

Abbie also claimed a 10.3secs win in her 75m while Gemma Mayled (1.19m) and Lucinda Dodd (1.19m) won in the high jump. Danielle Bentley (7.36m) and Leah Ferrie (4.83m) secured top marks in the shot.

Emily Clarke finished second (4.01m) in the long jump alongside B-event winner Danielle Erskine (3.44m). Leah Ferrie scored success in the 1,200m after rounding three laps in 5:11.0.

Lauren Hunt banked a double success in the U17 ladies throws with 31.25m in the discus and 10.40m in the shot.

Rachel Stoakley (27.2) and Rebecca Cutler (28.7) won the 200m A and B races and finished second in the 200m with times of 13.0 and 13.9 respectively.

Charlotte Roach won the 1,500m with a time of 5:00.2, the B discus with 18.08m, and ran the first leg for

the winning 100m relay squad of Rebecca Cutler, Lauren Hunt, and Rachel Stoakley who posted 55.1.

Gareth Preston, Nick Rushton and Andrew Whitton steered the West Cheshire U15 boys to a clean sweep of victories in the 100m and 200m.

Gareth won both 100m (12.3) and 200m (23.9) A races and was supported by Nick's winning 100m B time of 12.7, and Andrew's 24.7 success in the 200m B race.

Callum Scott won the 400m B in 60.8 and Alwyn Thomas won the B 800m in 2;23.0, while Alan Littler won the B 1,500m in 5:30.6.

Callum (20.05m) and Alan (13.55m) won maximum A and B points from the discus circle, and Alwyn won the B shot with 6.01m.

Louis Humphreys (32.47m) and Andrew Whitton (24.37m) doubled up for victories in the javelin.

Andrew Whitton (5.85m) and Gareth Preston (5.45m) secured a double win from the long jump pit.

And Matthew White finished second in the high jump (1.45m), alongside B-event winner Callum Scott (1.35m). The U15 boys' 400m quartet of Alan Littler, Alwyn Thomas, Callum Scott and Louis Humphreys won with a time of 4:17.4.

James Callaghan bagged a double success from the U17 boys' discus (36.69m) and shot (11.74m) events. Carl Van Schie and Matthew Fisher combined to pocket maximum points in the U17 boys' 200m. Carl posted 24.0 seconds and Matthew clocked 25.9.

Carl and Sam Bateson combined to secure successes from the long-jump event after scoring 5.94m and 5.08m respectively.

Aiden Stoakley anchored the West Cheshire U13s' 100m relay team of Tom Littler, Steven Hill and Jacques Humphreys to victory with a time of 59.0.

Aiden had earlier secured success in the 100m (13.9) and long jump (4.09m). And Tom Littler demonstrated his stamina and speed with a fine 1,500m victory of 5:11.7.
