CHESTER Tri athletes excelled in the mud at Reaseheath College.

Club members bagged plenty of Cheshire County Cross Country Championship medals.

In the women’s race, the team of Gill Mead (31:51), Kirsty Seddon (33:58) and Lisa Grantham (34:09) took second place with 28 points, trailing winners Vale Royal AC by just one point.

The vets team of Gill, Lisa and Jan Rogers (36:26) were also second, with Gill winning her age group, Jan second in hers and Lisa third in hers.

They were joined in the women’s race by Catriona Fleming (43:24), while in the junior races Laura Smith was 19th in U15 girls, and Dan Weaver and Amelia Standing were both 24th in the U13 boys and girls races.

John Gornall was 11th in U11 boys, with William Standing and Calum McNay 36th and 37th in the same category.

In the U11 girls, Mollie Smith was 21st, closely followed by Beth Hughes (23rd) and Zara Gautier-Price (24th).

In the final race of the afternoon, the men’s team of Chris Prior (41:44), Chris Standidge (42:25), Alex Hall (42:36), Rob Grantham (43:27), Duncan Harris (43:40) and Vince van Woerkom (43:534) came away with silver medals, seven points behind the winners, Wilmslow.

Other team members were Simon Oliver (44:05), Andrew Howarth (48:36), Mike Waring (50:40), Andy Lilley (53:57), Jonathon Goulding (55:16) and Ray Tran (56:05).
