EVEN a howling gale could not put Dave Nalder off his stride as the Ellesmere Port Running Club member tackled the Prestatyn Riverside 10k.

On a blowy Welsh day, he posted a very decent time of 42 minutes.

In the calmer surroundings of Liverpool suburbia, clubmate Paul Ashley had an easier time in the Penny Lane 10k.

Further enhancing his burgeoning race reputation, the EPRC runner flew around the fast flat course to clock an excellent 38 minutes 54 seconds.

In the Freckleton Half Marathon, Steve Laker and John Hawker represented EPRC.

Billed as the UK’s oldest half marathon, very strong winds ensured it was never going to be an easy race over an undulating course and under an overcast sky.

It did not prove a happy hunting ground for Laker, who was disappointed with his creditable time of one hour, 22 minutes and 53 seconds.

Hawker also clocked an impressive time, returning home in 1:42.31.
