SIX members of Tattenhall Runners took part in the Village Bakery Half Marathon in Wrexham.
Mark Smith was first home for the club in an hour and 34 minutes, followed by Mike McCorkell in 1:38.
Dave Oldfield and Rob Webster battled each other round the course, with Oldfield finishing in 1:41 ahead of Webster in 1:42.
Mike Davies was next home in 1:46, followed by Martin Hilton in 1:48.
In the Parbold Hill Race, Mike Whiteside collected the over 65 group winner’s prize.
He finished 154th from 500 competitors in the seven-mile cross-country event in a time of 59 minutes 32 seconds.
The tough, hilly course over farmland and footpaths was muddier than anyone can remember in the event’s 43-year history. Whiteside also ran in the Standish Hall Trail 10k race near Wigan, completing the course in 47:39 to finish first in the over 65 category.
West Cheshire AC was represented by four members at the English National Cross Country Championships held at Herrington Park, Sunderland.
Jac Goodall claimed 141st position in the under 13 boys race with a time of 13 minutes 44 seconds, while Dave Alexander was 241st in the men’s race with 49:55, ahead of Andrew Clague (537th in 56:38) and Dave Hough (963rd in 69:05).
Vince Hodges of West Cheshire AC travelled to the Walt Disney Marathon Weekend in America where he clocked 1:38:57 for the half marathon, and 3:45:38 for the marathon on the following day.
West Cheshire will be represented in all six age groups at this Sunday’s North West Sportshall Athletics League Final. Youngsters at the club are aiming to conclude the regional league campaign on a high when they travel to Kingsway Leisure Centre.
Fixtures this weekend include the Northern and English Indoor Combined Events Championships at Sheffield on Saturday.
