GRAHAM Jenkins delivered a gutsy performance at a frost-bound Knight’s Grange on Saturday.
Jenkins headed the charge for the City of Chester Triathlon Club at the Cheshire Cross Country Championships, crossing the line in 41:49.
He was followed by Peter Brook (42:28), Phil Townsend (44:07), Simon Greenwood (45:49), Phil Brown (48:01), Chris Morgan (48:26, 3rd Vet 50 prizewinner), Simon Johnson (48:49), Chris Hulse (48:57) and Dave Taylor (50:20).
Over a shorter course for the women’s race, Jill Hume was second vet 35 in a good time of 32:12 and was ably followed by Jan Taylor (36:42), cross country debutant Angela Green (40:49) and Julie Shalloe (41:00).
Earlier in the day, a squad of Chester Tri juniors endured the bitter conditions to put in some good performances over a variety of distances. In the under 11s boys race, Daniel Hamp clocked 8:25 followed by Ben Maudsley (8:29) and Zack Ravetl (10:20) with Evie Spurole clocking 11:37 in the girls race. In the U13 boys, Ben Hamp crossed the line in 13:43 chased by Liam Southall (14:24), Mathew Sinclair (15:21) and James McClean (16:05).
