DESPITE the best efforts of the club’s top runners to play down fast times and play up injuries, organisers produced another challenging four-mile Christmas Handicap for Ellesmere Port Running Club.
The handicap puts the fastest runners at the back of the field and gives the slower ones enough of a head start to make it a fair race.
Victory went to Roy Traynor who, in cold and windy conditions, finished in 30 minutes and 26 seconds with a three-minute handicap (h).
Second was John Hawker with a time of 31:10 (4:32h), closely pursued by Danny Legg 31:27 (5:20h).
First lady home was Alison McDonald with a time of 32:27 (3:00h). This was also the fastest running time by a lady, with Graham Earlham posting the fastest men’s overall time of 24:36 (8:50h).
Ellesmere Port Running Club meet at Whitby Sports and Social Club on Tuesdays and Fridays at 6.45pm, to begin running at 7pm. The club welcome runners of all abilities.
