A WEST Cheshire AC runner secured a top-20 place at the Northern Cross Country Championships.
Evan Roberts posted 12 minutes 19 seconds for the testing under 13 boys course at Knowsley Safari Park, earning 20th position.
He was backed up by club colleagues Christy Mageean (39th in 12:48), Alex Mason (91st in 14:06), Jac Goodall (105th in 14:43), Rory Willson (118th in 16:11) and Harri Britton (120th in 16:14).
Katie Clarke represented West Cheshire in the U15 girls race and finished 49th in 19:13, while her sister Issy clocked 14:50 for 64th place in the U13 girls race, ahead of Beth McMahon (125th in 16:54). Ellen McMahon was 87th in the U17 women’s race with 30:05.
Dave Alexander completed the 12km three-lap senior men’s course with a time of 49:43 for 126th position.
He was supported by West Cheshire club-mates Andrew Clague (264th in 55:04), Dave Tiernan (281st in 55:42) and Mark Davies (328th in 57:17).
Entries are being accepted for the Chester Spring Five Miles Road Race being organised by West Cheshire AC on Wednesday, April 3 (7pm).
The popular fixture is celebrating its 21st anniversary after the course was modified last year. An entry limit of 500 has been set.
An online entry form can be found by logging on to www.wcacrr.co.uk. Entries will be taken on the day of the race, subject to it not being full.
The West Cheshire AC presentation evening takes place tomorrow at Cheshire View, Christleton (7.30pm start).
The final round of the Essar West Cheshire AC Schools Cross Country Race Series will be held at Stanney Oaks, Ellesmere Port, on Saturday (10am start), with the fifth round of the North Wales Cross Country League at The Marches School, Oswestry, taking place on the same day.
West Cheshire AC won five of the six age group team competitions at Sunday’s North West Sportshall League fixture at Deeside College. The club’s under 13 and U15 girls teams and U11, U13 and U15 boys teams all topped the standings.
