TATTENHALL Runners stormed to three top-10 spots and a host of prizes in the Green Green Grass of Home Fell Race on Moel Famau, the third event in the Clwydian Hills Summer Trot Series.
Fresh from his return from university, Rob Dunn led the club’s charge with a stunning fifth-placed finish in 33.09mins. That made him the fastest Under 23s male and one minute later he was followed by Peter Taylor in sixth and Dave Lancaster, the fastest Over 50s male, in 10th.
Dave Sykes maintained his fine form by passing the post in 13th before Nick Holmes crossed the line in 25th, with Steve Hammond hot on his heels in 26th. Sarah Hammond was the second-fastest lady and the next Tattenhall ace home in 31st, seven places in front of Paul Miller in 37th, while Andrew Sudlow marked an excellent fell-racing debut by claiming second in his age class behind Dunn in 40th.
Dave Oldfield (48th), Tim Charmley (50th), Kath Scott (56th), Rob Webster (59th), Steve Hornby (62nd), Amanda Davies (68th), Alistair McAuliffe (71st) and Sharon Basford (78th) completed the Tattenhall set.
Mike Whiteside was the club’s sole entrant in the Gravy Trail Race near Glossop. He produced an impressive performance to finish as the third-fastest Over 60s male in 38th. Mark Smith, just back from a break in Italy, came 10th in the rain-soaked Gritstone Trail Race.
