DAVE Layder has called on his Ellesmere Port side to raise their game this Saturday as they face a realistic chance of picking up a win against Mossley Hill.

The team was on the receiving end of a 73-0 loss at high-flying Moore last Saturday but their next opponents are an altogether different proposition.

Struggling near the bottom of South Lancs/Cheshire Three with Port, Mossley Hill at home is a game head coach Layder believes his young side can win.

“We need to put more effort in, in training, games, everywhere,” he said.

“Confidence is very low obviously because of the way results have gone, but it will not change unless we work harder.

“We also need to keep our heads up for longer in games. But that is down to experience and it will come.

“But this is a good time for us to play Mossley Hill because we need to go into a game with a chance and that is a winnable fixture.”
