Ellesmere Port 7St Edward’s Old Boys 13
DOMINANCE means nothing in sport unless you have the end product.
Ellesmere Port had enough opportunities against St Edward’s but could not make them count.
Port got their try after 15 minutes with a rolling maul.
Chris Cabot converted and Port should have kicked on.
But towards the end of the half St Edward’s changed their style, opening up to counter Port’s strong, slow pack and they grounded t wo tries to take a 10-7 half-time lead.
Port then pressed but struggled against St Edwards’ long kicking game and a late penalty sealed the result.
