TEAMS from the minis and junior section of Ellesmere Port Rugby Club got their hands on silverware at the Hoylake Festival.

The under 10s won the Hoylake Plate after beating Caldy 9-3 in the final.

The U11s repeated the feat, claiming the Hoylake Plate with a 3-1 success over their Caldy counterparts in the final.

Port’s U12s then made it a hat-trick of Plate victories when they overcame Northwich 5-1.

The U7s and U8s had some great results in their group stages but narrowly missed out on a place in their finals.

Mark Davies, the club’s junior section chairman, said: “It is a great demonstration of the success of the junior section at the club being built on commitment of the players and the coaches and parents.

“EPRUFC is now competing against many long established and more senior clubs at every age group.

“This sort of success at tournaments bodes well for the future of the mini and junior section and for the club as a whole.

“I am proud to be part of it and congratulate all our teams on their excellent season.”
