ELLESMERE Port RUFC have been handed a further boost after their main sponsor announced it would be backing the thriving club once again next season.

Port officials, whose first team won promotion to South Lancs/Cheshire Division Two last month, are delighted that Rees Development has decided to continue its support.

The Chester-based development company is owned by former Oilers player Vince Rees, who hopes his ongoing sponsorship can help the club rise up the English rugby ladder.

“I always knew they had the resources, skills and committed individuals needed to succeed – which is way I sponsored them then and why I’ve made a commitment to support that potential for another year,” said Vince.

“It’s been a true pleasure to be associated with the club and to watch both the team and the individuals within it develop and grow.

“As an Ellesmere Port boy through and through I’m delighted I’m in a position now to help that great condition continue.”

Port player-chairman Paul Watkinson said: “Vince is not only a sponsor but also a club member with the best interests of the club at heart.

“He has also been instrumental in attracting additional sponsors to the club.

“We hope to enjoy a mutually beneficial partnership throughout next season and hopefully beyond.”
