Parkonians 62Ellesmere Port 10

HEAD coach Dave Layder struggled to find words to explain his side’s heavy defeat at Parkonians.

Port have blown hot and cold all season in the South Lancs/Cheshire Three in a season where Layder predicted they could finish fourth.

That is now beyond them after Saturday’s dismal defeat but they are still capable of breaking into the top six.

“We put in a very lacklustre performance,” said Layder.

“There is nothing else to say about it. We have some time off now and hopefully people will come back having looked at themselves refreshed and ready to end the season on a high.

“Looking at the form we should win on and lose one of the final two games, but we have to go out there and give our best.

“We can still climb the table and improve on last year.”

Port have no game this weekend and only two games left this season, against relegation battlers Port Sunlight in a fortnight and at home to champions Ramsay (Isle of Man) to round off the season.
