Chester Gladiators ended the 2014 season with a comprehensive 52-6 win over East Manchester Rangers under the floodlights at Moat Hall Sports Centre, home of Eccles ARLFC.

Chester's big pack proved far too powerful for the game hosts, who have one of the youngest squads in the North West Men's League.

Kiwi prop Kellum Friday finished with three tries as he collected the man of the match award and there were doubles for back rower Benji Marsh and stand-in halfback Jim Green.

Tom Bradfield, Paul Welch, Craig Jones and Andy Oakden all crossed for the rampant Gladiators, who ended on a real high despite missing out on the top-four.

Chester dominated the opening 40 minutes, running in six tries with Marsh, Green and Friday powering over in quick succession to open up a lead that would have been more commanding with better goal kicking.

Marsh and Friday both crossed again and Bradfield burrowed over from close range to send Gladiators into the break with a commanding lead.

East Manchester refused to throw in the towel and posted the first points of the second period but that was as good as it got for the home side.

Chester continued to eat up the metres through the middle with Welch and Jones ploughing over the whitewash before a spectacular solo score from Oakden.

Friday completed his hat-trick and Green stepped over the line in the final minute to complete the scoring and bring the curtain down on a fine season for the Gladiators, who finished in sixth place in North West Men's League Division Four.
