ROWERS from Queen’s Park High School delivered medal- winning displays at the Runcorn Junior Regatta.
Over the 300m course, Ben Newell came first in the J13X1 singles, as did the Queen’s Park WJ13X4 quad (Amy Williamson, Meera Baker, Emily Cox, Eve Lawlor and cox Lucy Clegg).
Lucy Clegg also achieved second in the WJ15X1 singles.
There were silver and bronze medals for the Chester school in the WJ12X4 quad section.
The crew comprising Rona Fishburn, Eve Lawlor, Amy Mullholland, Felicity Weir and cox Heather Richie came second, ahead of Lina Semcenke, Dominika Bialy, Humaira Aslam , Emily Whitehead and cox Lucy Clegg.
Queen’s Park’s Matt Ward and Tom Hancock, in the J12X2 double, came second in their race.
Queens Park rowers were also in action at the Ironbridge Regatta.
Ben Newell reached the final and came first in the J13 singles, as did Chris McCartney in the J15 single sculls. Lucy Clegg (WJ15 single sculls), Joel Langmead (J16 single sculls) and Leon Langmead and Chris McCartney (J15 double sculls) rowed successfully through their respective heats then, after a long wait, were told that all racing was cancelled because of the increasingly dangerous state of the river.
