GOLF: CHILDREN'S charities are preparing for a big day next month.

Members of the Crewe & Nantwich Weaver Rotary Club will host a golf day at Crewe Golf Club on Tuesday, September 23 and four charities have been nominated by the club to benefit from the day.

They are Springfield School in Crewe, Hope House, Chernobyl Children's Cancer Care and the Children's Adventure Farm.

It promises to be a great day with many celebrities taking part.

World Cup winner Nobby Stiles and former Manchester United goalkeeper Alex Stepney will be playing in the President's team on the day, while Liverpool legends Ian St John, Ron Yeats, David Johnson and Alan Kennedy will also be in action along with ex-Coventry City manager John Sillett and former Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Steve Kindon.

From the world of cricket, ex-England fast bowler Greg Thomas will enter a team.

Many local businesses are supporting the day via sponsorship or by entering a team.

The cost is £245 per team, which includes a round of golf, meal and entertainment.

There are a few vacancies left and any interested teams should contact Charles Grant on 07785 220929 or Rob Sproston on 01270 624638.
