AMERICAN FOOTBALL: Chester Romans rounded off the season with an awards ceremony at the Moat House Hotel in Chester.

The event was attended by 50 players, cheerleaders and spouses with the awards being handed out by stand-in head coach Gary Fuller and general manager Richard Colin.

Jason Wilcock scooped the players' player award thanks to his outstanding displays at linebacker and stand-in running back.

The other players' awards went to running back James Tootle (offence), BJ Williams (defence), Richard Colin (clubman) and Ali Bult (rookie of the year).

The coaching staff selected quarterback Steve Waite as the coaches' player of the year. Linebacker Simon Wainwright (defence) and running back Pete Tootle (offence) were also honoured for their consistent displays.

The coaches' lineman award went to Gareth Pinnington.

The 'most improved' award went to converted defensive lineman Richard Posnett.

The Romans are looking for players (for both the senior and youth teams), cheerleaders, coaches, backroom staff, supporters and sponsors for the upcoming season, which will be the club's 20th in competitive football.
