CYCLING: WEAVER Valley CC's Rob Dacey produced the club's first open win of the season at Allostock in midweek.
His success came in the League International series second round over 30 miles and from a full field. Dacey was on the attack for all three laps and the second was specially gruelling, being chased down and still having the strength to forge clear of the bunch again.
He maintained his lead to the line to win the 40 to 49-years category.
In the Over 50s, Graham Gregory, Dave Astles and Mark Thompson all rode well.
Gregory in particular was in form, winning third place from the bunch sprint by three lengths. Thompson was third in the Over 60s. In his second comeback race, Astles finished strong in the bunch.
Paul Jaffrey recorded a creditable 2hrs 8mins 30secs in the Mid Shropshire Wheelers' 50-mile time trial and Steve Thomas 2:09.28,
Sunday's club run, from the Iron Bridge, Castle, at 9.30am, will be to Audlem, where Crewe Clarion are promoting the National 10-mile Championships.
