COMMONWEALTH GAMES: FORMER St Nicholas RC High School teacher Carolyn Reid is aiming to stop shots not success at the Commonwealth Games.

Reid, 33, is the England goalkeeper and was a PE teacher at St Nicolas for five years and is a now a school sports co-ordinator at Aigburth.

She has already been capped 105 times for England and in 23 games for Great Britain, including in the 2000 Olympics and has played in the World and European Championships.

Reid won a Commonwealth silver in 1998 and 2002 and England should qualify for the classification stages

having been drawn against Canada (Friday), Barbados and Scotland in the group phase. nA famous non-runner is Paul Radcliffe. As we reported last week the Northwich-born athlete, entered for the 5,000m, 1000m and marathon, pulled out of the Games because of a foot injury.
