STE Rawlinson caused a sensation in the Widnes & District Snooker League with a campaign best Division One break of 115.

Rawlinson became the first century-maker in the competition since John Welsh six years ago and swept past the early-season marker of 98 laid down by Andy Housley.

His efforts started the ball rolling on another Village A triumph as they defeated Widnes Cricket Club A 8-1.

Mike King won 94-39 and Adam Thomson 83-26.

Ford A suffered yet another setback, going down 7-2 to Over-ton Memorial Hall despite a 52 break by Jimmy Jenkins. Mike Lloyd chipped in with a half-century for the winners.

Widnes Conservative Club A triumphed 7-2 at United Services Club A.

Ste Andrews carded a 90-54 victory while Danny Plumpton produced a gritty 55-38.

Halton Stadium B gained a much-needed 6-3 win to aid their survival fight. Sean Dennett (73-32) and John Edge (59-23) scored vital victories.

St Basil's B won by the same margin with Rory Murman triumphing 89-37 but the headline act was team-mate Andy Molyneux, whose 98-10 included a 44 break.

St Joseph's A stumbled 6-3 at Farnworth A for whom Ronnie Crewe (67-48) and Chris Smart (101-37) proved too powerful.

Simms Cross A edged out RAOB A 5-4. A 45 break from the Buffs' Frank Pennington could not prevent Institute anchorman Mark Bingham (83-23) from taking all the plaudits.

Division Two's Widnes Rec B beat United Services Club B 7-2 in an explosive encounter.

Paul Antrobus enjoyed breaks of 37 and 27 while colleague Tony Yasities pieced together a 31.

However, John Hughes' 55 for the USC team was the match highlight.

Chris Heffey (76-20) and Ian Formby (93-40) spearheaded Hallwood Raven's 8-1 defeat of RAOB B, Widnesian visitors to Runcorn.

Hough Green SC B kept up their challenge with an 8-1 defeat of their Farnworth B guests with Mark Cuerdon and Paul Fenlon faring well.

Pavilions A cruised to a 7-2 win over table-topping Moorfield B with S Mercer's 81-16 providing the impetus.

Ford B returned to winning ways, 6-3 at Corporation where the performances of Tony Riccio (67-26) and Paul Dunn (74-25) made all the difference.

Village B also triumphed 6-3, courtesy of Tommy Karaski (57-21) and Darren Kirchin (80-10).

Dave Boswell (80-37) was again the star as Farnworth C scraped a 5-4 win over high-flying Hough Green SC A.

Division Three's Farnworth E underlined their intentions by unceremoniously dethroning leaders Village C at Appleton to take over at the top.

Paul Campbell (84-29) and Geoff Swales (65-45) masterminded the 8-1 rout away from home.

Widnes Cricket Club B maintained their surge, also winning 8-1. Anchormen Harry Bates and Alan Mercer saw them safely home.

Mill Brow beat Eccleston Lane Ends 7-2, Les Riding (66-27) taking the lead role.

Oddfellows won 5-4 at home to Moorfield C with W Farrington setting the scene with an early 80-43 win.

Widnes Conservative Club B were once more indebted to Mark Worrall, whose 84-35 win went a long way to clinching a 5-4 victory over Prescot Reform.
