HOCKEY: DEESIDE Ramblers drew 2-2 at Southport in a tight North League Division One encounter that could have gone either way.
Deeside went a goal down but that had the effect of increasing the steel and determination of the Cheshire side. An equaliser came when the ever alert Hedley Pollard pounced as a Deeside penalty corner move broke down. Deeside then applied wave after wave of attack so it was a surprise when Southport retook the lead.
But Deeside reapplied themselves and, with 10 minutes to go, Del Millard-Smith equalised.
Deeside's seconds came from a goal down to win 2-1 at West Derby.
Deeside were in front by half time with goals from Neil Cook and Ed Lowe.
Andy Stammers and Mike Williams excelled.
A hard working Deeside thirds team applied lots of pressure on Bolton as goals from Phil Win-ward and Dick Heinrich secured a 2-2 draw.
The fourth team containing three 15-year-olds lost 4-3 at Bowdon. Goals from Will Wilson, Steve Thompson and Geoff Lath-am were cancelled out by two Bowdon goals in the last 10 minutes.
Deeside fifths overwhelmed Manchester 3-1 with goals from Tom Bramhall, Phil Johnson and Rupert Gill.
The Tarporley club's sixth team won 3-0 at City of Manchester. Julian Osborne opened the scoring and subsequent goals came from Mark Jones and Richard DJ Jones.
Deeside Ramblers Beavers cut loose with a 6-2 win over Bowdon with three goals from Johnny Verity and single contributions from Harry Dodd-Moore, Harry Peel and Adam Dunbavand.
