HOCKEY: DEESIDE Ramblers bounced back from the upset against Preston to beat Newcastle University 8-4.

Despite conceding an early goal Ramblers quickly turned the game around to lead 5-2 before the interval and added to the tally in the second half.

On target were Steve Hill, Derek Millard-Smith (2), Will Mumme-Young, Matty Allen (2) and Hedley Pollard (2).

Ramblers' seconds went down 4-2 against Bebington. After conceding an early goal Phil Brown levelled just before half time. In the second half Bebington extended their lead and a consolation came from Ed Lowe.

Ramblers' thirds fielded a young side who defended well against Crewe who won with a second-half goal.

Ramblers' fourths never got going against Oxton and were trailing 2-0 at half time. They rallied in the second half and were un-fortunate to concede a late goal.

The fifth team continued their winning run against Oxton, winning 3-0 with a hat-trick from Alistair McAuliffe. Deeside's sixths lost to Sale 2-0.

Ramblers' young Badgers team beat Alderley Edge 5-2.

Ramblers' Beavers completed a double over Alderley Edge to win 7-0. There were hat-tricks for Josh Guy and Martin Leah.

Ramblers' ladies first team lost to Sheffield 3-1 despite a goal from Sarah Arden.

League leaders Durham University demonstrated why they are promotion contenders with a 6-1 win at Deeside seconds.

Deeside thirds beat Buckley 3-0 with Dilys Dodds and Lucy Pochin (2) the scorers.

Chester's men's fifth team crashed 5-1 to Bowdon sevenths after leading with an Ed Lewis goal and the sixths lost 2-0 to Alderley Edge.
