ROWING: Queens Park High School Rowing Club members also took part in the annual Pudding Races on the River Dee.

Five evenly-matched teams were chosen from the students who then had to race in quads in a round-robin series down the straight from the pump house to the boat house.

The winning team was Marcus Adam, Ozzy Ghobadi, Caroline Wither and Emma Clark, coxed by Emily Stuttard.

This was followed by a tough Ergo competition between the same teams where again Marcus and his team were the winners.

Meanwhile, the five rowers who formed the WJ14 girls' sculling quad from the Queens Park High School Rowing Club got into the festive spirit - by going carol singing!

Over a five-day period before Christmas, Bridget Collin, Rose Butters, Kate Pilling, Alice Walton and Amy Jones visited areas in Westminster Park, Curzon Park, Queen's Park and Handbridge in their rowing club colours to entertain residents.

They were singing to raise money towards the £300,000 needed to assist in treatments for cancers and blood disorders at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Their efforts brought in £291.
