TABLE TENNIS: SEVEN teams have already booked their places in Division Two for when the lower division of the Halton Table Tennis League splits into two for the second half of the season.

Pavilions B, Runcorn Sports Club D, Daresbury, Halton Seniors, Pavilions A, Halton Club A and Widnes Rec B have all secured a spot.

The eighth and last qualifier will only be known once the outstanding games have been completed.

The bottom seven teams will drop into a new Division Three.

Pavilions B came from behind to snatch top spot in Division Two after wins over Sutton Manor D, Halton Club C, Farnworth and Halton Seniors.

Trebles came from Rob Midgeley, Dave Goulden, Mario Giove, Les Illidge and George Illidge.

Runcorn Sports Club D sealed the runners-up spot after a victory over Halton Club B which was inspired by hat-tricks from Brian Rawlinson, Son Tran and Sheldon Phillips.

Daresbury landed third spot when defeating Widnes Rec C, Halton Club A and Sutton Manor D with Andy Wodyatt, Gordon Roach and Jeff Meehan all serving up triples.

Farnworth kept up their bid for eighth spot by beating Halton Club C and losing only narrowly at Widnes Rec B. Roy French, Ray Hughes and Ian Simm hit hat-tricks as did Widnes Rec B's Bernard Keogh and Joe Buzza.

Sutton Manor continue to head Division One despite going down to Runcorn Sports Club C for whom Martin Roberts and Mike Clare were unbeatable.

The leaders recovered by toppling Frodsham B - Andrew Davies on form. Sutton Manor B have made it a onetwo for their club at the top - moving into second spot after winning against Frodsham B and Runcorn Sports Club C while drawing at Ford B. There were hat-tricks for Ste Wearden, Neil Parker and Peter Findlater.

Frank James, Billy Wheeler and Scot Robertson saw Widnes Rec A home against Runcorn Sports Club B and Frodsham B.

But the Liverpool Road outfit had to bow to Frodsham A. Destroyers of the Rec A were Charlie Ostapski and John Perry who were joined by Mark Barnes in a successful trio which overpowered Frodsham B in an in-house derby.

But Frodsham A were in turn beat by Jay Phillips, Paul Ingham and Katy Ingham of Runcorn Sports Club A.

Teams are urged to get their names in for the divisional singles at Halton Stadium on Sunday, February 26.

The league's championships are at the Stadium on Sunday, April 9 with the finals then being held over to Friday, May 12.
