SPEEDWAY: STOKE Easy Rider Potters go into three meetings over the Bank Holiday period on the back of two good performances last weekend, writes NEIL EVANS.

The Potters defeated Berwick 55-39 to claim their first league points of the season and then pushed Glasgow hard before going down 50-43 on Sunday.

'It was a pretty good weekend in many ways and one that should give the team a lot of confidence,' said skipper Paul Pickering, who was accredited with 17 points in both meetings.

Jan Staechmann also scored an 18-point maximum in the win over Berwick.

'My gating wasn't good but the bikes are going great and it felt good to get my first 18-pointer of the season,' said the popular Dane.

Stoke face Workington at home on Saturday (7.30pm) and travel to Cumbria on Monday on league duty. In between, they host Edinburgh on Sunday (7pm) in a Premier Trophy fixture.

Stoke hope to run a training school on Tuesday, June 1 from noon to 4pm if there is enough interest.
