KARTING: JAMES Duxbury won the Platinum Cup at the Three Sisters track, Wigan, at the weekend.

The 15-year-old Darnhall driver beat 60 other senior TKM Extreme entrants and was the youngest competitor in the new competition for Manchester and Buxton Karting Club members.

James, winner of the club's Gold Cup two years running, was fourth in the British Championship last year and has moved up to seniors this season.

His Platinum Cup triumph also gives him overall victory in the Winter Series and he is leading the M&BC's TKM championship as well.

His exploits will also be available on DVD soon. A camera was mounted on to his kart after he won pole position and the film will be used to promote the club.

James, who attends Tarporley High School, is sponsored by Winsford companies Mitran Automotive, D&R Fabrications, Lloyd and Jones, D&W Autos and D W Roberts, of Wincham. Mecanical support was provided by Nigel Wakefield.
