ANGLING: A MASSIVE 215lbs pike earned victory for Norman Cadman in Sunday's Grosvenor Estates AC pike match on the Eaton Hall serpentine.
Taken with a tiny blue plug bait, the fish was enough to edge out runner-up Danny Mort, who had two pike weighing 23-10-0, the best a 12-2-0 fish. Third place went to Ron Evans with an 11-8-0 pike.
Ian Beales was up front in the Airbus, Broughton AC match on the SU Canal at Waverton with 2-6-0 of small fish. Twin brother Mark was next with a similar catch weighing 21-6-9, with Bob Asher third with 0-14-15.
Shaun Sandham netted a match-winning carp in the closing minutes of the Milton Green Fishery open. This gave him a total of 58-11-0 of carp, just ahead of Martin Holding's carp-based 57-15-0 and Sam Kennedy's 42lbs of carp.
Rod 'N' Reel put up a good performance in the Winter League finals on the Grand Union Canal at Loughborough. Out of the 12 area qualifiers, they were fifth and just failed to qualify for the national final.
Top weighers were Graham Lewis with 3-7-0 of roach and Lee Saville with 1-9-0 of gudgeon, who were both section winners, and Andy Amos backed up with 3-1-0 of bits.
Simon Hayes, of Saltney, can look forward to fishing in the Troutmasters Final on Grafham Water in June after winning the area qualifier at the Tree Tops Fishery. His catch of three rainbows weighed 11-9-0, the best a 7-8-0 fish and all taken with a nomad.
Willaston AC had a midway finish on Sunday's Seacat Super League match on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal at Maghull. Their best efforts came from Phil Cross, who included a 2lbs perch in his 2-6-0 total, backed up by Brian Wood with 2lbs of roach and Peter Nelson with 1-10-0 of perch.
Local teams in the Crewe and District Winter League had mixed fortunes in Sunday's penultimate match on the Wardle length of the SU Canal.
Willaston were seventh to go 13th overall, thanks to Peter Cooke with 2-2-6 of roach, Dave Ellis with 1-8-0 of roach and George Cooke with 0-6-4. Chester Tackle Locker were 13th and are now 12th overall, through Mike Beaumont with 1-5-2 of roach and gudgeon, Phil Shannon with 0-15-6 and Wayne Jevons with 0-11-8.
Wendy Locker won the Hampton Springs Fishery open match on Saturday by taking 35-7-0 of carp from the island pool. Keith Bean was third with 22-9-0. In Sunday's open match, Bean was second with 42-8-0 of carp and tench.

Bob Edwards and John Archer shared first place in the Peg One AC match at Milton Green Fishery with 4lbs of carp. John Warrington had 3-10-0 of carp.
Steve Boyd was top in the Burton Mere Fishery midweek open match with 57-8-0 of carp and skimmers, while on Sunday, Barry Davies won with 23-14-0 of carp from Phil Hardman's 15lbs of carp. Due to a lack of support, the weekend open matches will be suspended unless numbers increase in the next few weeks. The Wednesday matches will continue.

Dennis Bailey, of Chester Tackle Locker, had two second places in the Winsford AA matches on the Weaver. In the pensioners' open he had 7-14-0 of roach and followed up with 9-14-0 of roach in the allcomers' match.
Shaun Sandham and Wendy Locker tied for first place in the Tarvin Sands AC match on home water. Both took 47-14-0 of carp to finish ahead of Les Picken's 32-6-0.
Lee Green was top rod in the Airbus, Broughton flyfishers' match at Llyn Brenig. He had 13lbs of rainbows taken with an orange fritz, ahead of Arthur Evans's 14-4-0 and Vince Mingella's 10-2-0.
FISHERIES REPORTS Dearnford Hall: Bill Clayton, of Ellesmere Port, coaxed the best fish of the week, a 9-3-0 rainbow, to a gold-headed damsel-fly nymph. Eddie Knowles, also of Ellesmere Port, netted 22 fish, the best a 6lbs rainbow using fritz lures.
Sarn: Tim Smith, of Wirral, lifted a brace of rainbows weighing 6-2-0 to an eggfly.
Milton Green: David Johnson, of Ellesmere Port, netted carp up to 7lbs, roach to 1lb and a 1-8-0 perch using maggot or caster.
Tree Tops: Godfrey Hulse, of Frod-sham, fished a white lure to take a 5-3-0 rainbow.
Burton Mere: Dave Sadler, of Neston, struck lucky when fishing on the carp pool. His catch included a 21-8-0 mirror carp, a 19lbs common and three more double-figure carp using a popped-up sauce boilie.
