TABLE TENNIS: POST Office A extended their lead at the top Division One of the Crewe and District Table Tennis League to 10 points after their convincing 9 - 1 win over Post Office E.

Trebles from the bats of John Ibbs and Steve Addis, along with a brace for John Stonely, did the damage.

A sole Neil Proudlove win was E side's only success.

Bentley Blades' 7-3 win over Post Office C keeps them in contact with the leaders, but they need to take full advantage of their game in hand to close the gap.

A Steve Tasker hat-trick and two wins from Kevin Foster earned the victory.

A double from David Galley was the C side's contribution to the scorecard.

In an all-Post Office match a 9-1 win for the D side has left the B side struggling against relegation at the foot of the table.

Trebles from Steve Crowson and Rupert Turner, and a brace from Graham Spencer, completed the rout. Only Alan Shaw's victory over Spencer prevented a whitewash.

In Division Two, Norton made it eight wins from eight games with a 10-0 hammering of Civic TT. Mike Lee, Keith Evans and Steve Stirland were all unbeaten.

Civic TT lost again in their next match, this time to Post Office F, 8-2. A Dave Prince maximum and two wins each from Tony Kemp and Steve Green secured the win.

Civic's consolation was a Tracy Tompkinson double.

Bombardier kept up the chase on the leaders with a 10-0 win over Bentley Boys. Chris Clarke, Alan Platt and Mick Jones were all in top form for the Railmen.

The final of the Benoy Shield will be an all Post Office affair after Post Office A defeated Post Office G 491-458, and Post Office E defeated Wordcraft 462-454.
