ANGLING: TWO Ellesmere Port men shone at Dearnfood Hall trout fishery in Whitchurch.

John Stark netted the top rainbow of the week for 9-10-0, while Vince Holman landed a 6-0-0 brownie.

Elsewhere, Ellesmere Port British Legion AC fished their latest match on the Red Lion length of the River Weaver, with John Grieves enticing roach and skimmers for 6-2-0 to finish just ahead of Frank Lavell with 5-4-0.

Dave Hall emerged triumphant in Sunday's Wirral Winter League match on the Shropshire Union Canal.

His 6-3-7 of perch for Sensas match group at Waverton, near Egg Bridge, proved too good for Bob Mason for Franks Six with 5-1-12.

Ray's Tackle led with 31 points from Dockers on 28, Willaston Black on 27 and Willaston Red on 25.

Rod 'N' Reel made a clean sweep in Sunday's second match in the North Wales Winter League on Carmel Down Lake.

Bernie Leatherbarrow won the day with a catch of skimmers and roach weighing 14-13-0. Supporting were Carl Fletcher in third place with the same catch to weigh 11-9-0. Rod 'N' Reel won the day and are now league leaders overall by just one point.

Ellesmere Port members made a clean sweep in the Cheshire Police AC match on the Red Lion length of the River Weaver.

Top was Mark Greasley with roach to weigh 6-15-0, putting Alan Roberts second with 4-12-0 of roach and John Booth having 3-13-0 of the same.

Mark Greasley went on to win the Wirral Borough Council AC match at Bay Malton Fishery with a catch of small barbel and roach to weigh 15-8-0. Ben Toplass was runner-up on 14-8-0 of the same.

Peter Miles of Ellesmere Port had a good day on Milton Green Fishery with a catch weighing over 60-0-0, while Tom Hardy was up front in Neston Anglers' match at Brookside Fishery. With carp weighing 15-3-0 he had the edge over Barry Davies' 14-0-0 and Steve Smith's 7-0-0.

First place went to Steve Furfie in the Helsby Sports and Social Club AC match on the BICC pools.

Taking over 200 tiny roach, his 7-5-0 proved better than Kevin Holland with a 3-8-0 of common carp, helping him to 6-3-0 and Peter Knight with a 5-0-0 of crucians and roach.

Jimmy Dewhurst easily won the Saturday open match on the Lingmere fishery taking barbel and chub to weigh 62-8-0. He finished ahead of Sid Robinson with 45-4-0 of carp and Steve Openshaw with 39-14-0. Steve also won their Thursday match with carp-based 102-8-0 which beat Darren Stanton on 95-10-0 of chub.

Andy Cook topped in the Wirral AC match at Border Fishery. He claimed carp to weigh 34-8-0 to edge out Mark Caffrey on 29-8-0.
