SNOOKER & BILLIARDS: OVERTON Memorial Hall are making a timely return to top form in Widnes & District Snooker League.

On Saturday, February 11, Overton will, as reigning Division One champions, represent the Widnes League in the Merseyside Inter-League Champions of Champions tournament.

They have been paired with Quarry Green at Scottie's in Liverpool (12.15pm) and any support would be welcomed.

Overton continue to climb the Division One table in a bid to retain their title.

Good wins for Mike Lloyd (85-17), Chris Achilles (80-27) and an unbelievable effort from Geoff Brass-ington whose 125-7 victory included a 69 break saw Overton claim a 7-2 scalp.

However, Ford continue to romp away with the division - Jimmy Jenkins proving the star of the show again with a 128-7 frame which included breaks of 56 and 39 in the Motormen's 8-1 win.

St Basil's A (Dave Roberts 78-32 and Chris Lam 87-48) beat Stadium B 7-2.

Farnworth A won by the same scoreline, thanks to Chris Smart's 96-4 success.

St Bedes remain in second spot thanks to a 6-3 win at RAOB A, John Hartshorn (63-43) and Brian Kennedy (57-46) their inspiration.

HRBL gained a much-needed 5-4 victory with Alan Taylor anchoring the Runcorn team home.

Village A returned to winning ways, also with a 5-4. Highlight was Ste Rawlinson's classy 37 clearance in his 82-21 frame win.

In Division Two's top-of-the-table clash, Stadium A ousted USC A 6-3, Kev Tiernan 78-49 and Eddie Corby 70-17 being the difference.

St Joseph's B (Eddie Szczotok 76-33 and Mike Murray 75-29) remain in third thanks to an 8-1 win.

Village B consigned Eccleston Lane Ends A to the wooden-spoon position with an 8-1 win of their own.

Neil Webster (80-25), Jason Bright (82-18), Mark Laveric (90-16) and Darren Kirchin (82-21) performing excellently.

Pavilions eased past Farnworth B 7-2 with Phil Crilly (76-13) starring.

Ford B edged past WCC C 6-3, Ken Yeomans (60-43) and Ernie Griffiths (57-46) impressing in the middle frames.

Moorfield were 6-3 winners, Dave Evans (59-40) and Paul Bradburne (67-19) all but clinching the match first on.

In the Hough Green Social Club derby, the A team claimed bragging rights by winning 6-3 - Andy Ryan's 92-28 and a splended 41 break from Ged O'Brian sealed it.

USC B earned themselves some breathing space at the top of the Division Three pile with a 9-0 whitewash of Birchfield. Star performances came from Brian Woodrow (80-39), Paul Taylor (79-33) and Wayne Hewitt (71-32).

Widnes Conservative C claimed another 8-1 win, this time WCC C being the victims as old heads Mike Howard (45-28) and Mick Foran (54-37) got the winners off to the best possible start.

Farnworth E produced an 8-1 victory - Paul Campbell (70-34) and Paul Williams (55-25) doing enough to edge the handicap by a single point.

Farnworth D continued their turnaround in winning by the same score with Geoff Swales (61-32) and Brian Hanrahan (80-19) proving influential.

Stadium C (Simon Pierce 84-27 and Trem Darnell 81-20) triumphed 7-2.

Simms Cross B (John Hallsworth 86-29) remain in contention after beating Mill Brow 7-2.

Village C edged out title chasers Reform 5-4, Derek Baker claiming an important win in mid-match.

Widnes Cricket Club could yet prove the dark horses in Widnes & District Billiards League, their 5½-1½ win coming thanks to Rob Taylor (100-49) and a 41 break by Leon Hoskins.

Widnes Rec are still the team to beat, however, after winning 5-2 (Andy Grice 100-63, Andrew Housley 100-16).

Farnworth B remain closest challengers - their 5-2 away win coming thanks to Peter Johnson (100-26), John Pinder (100-41) and Rob Morris (100-48).

USC B were surprise 4-3 winners over Simms Cross A, Mal Leadbetter (100-61) and Paul Taylor (100-44 including a 43 break) helping them.

Moorfield won by the same margin thanks to Peter Knight (100-86) and Paul Bradburne (100-34).
