FORMER Frodsham Harrier Paula Radcliffe has travelled to Beijing uncertain whether she is fit enough to contest the marathon.
The world record holder’s participation in the Games has been in doubt since it was confirmed in May she had suffered a stress fracture to her left leg.
But Radcliffe said this week that she is “feeling good” and would race “unless my leg breaks down”.
She added: “It’s the Olympics so you take a risk on it.”
Radcliffe is determined to make up for the disappointment of four years ago in Athens, when she failed to finish the marathon and 10,000m in searing heat.
The 34-year-old was born in Davenham and lived at Barnton and then Kingsley until the age of 12.
