UNBEATEN Chester Netball Club are preparing for their end-of-season play-offs which could see them promoted to the English Premier League.

The club, formed in 1982 by senior coach Pam Lucas, won every one of their 16 games in the Northern Division this season and now they are in training for the play-offs at the beginning of May against the champions from other regions.

The team - comprising Jo Muskey, Jen Clarke, Sarah Watson, Michelle Sutton, Karen Taylor, Karen Fenlon, Jenny Pass, Dawn Patterson, captain Gill Canfield, Jenny Davies, Harry Jones and Vicki Barton and led by team manager Barbara Barton - will be promoted to the Premier League's Division Two if they are victorious.

Elevation to the upper tier of English netball means travelling the length and breadth of the country, taking on some of the best players in the game. But skipper Canfield is confident her girls can deliver.

She said: 'I am very proud of the achievements of the squad and the hard work and dedication of both the players and coach Pam.

'I am confident the team will achieve promotion as we have developed into one of the best clubs in the north of England.'

Based at the Cheshire County Sports Club in Upton, the team draws players from all over the county as far as Northwich and also into Wales.
