WOODSIDE Golf Club is proving lucky in more ways than one for Jon Smith.
The 32-year-old, from Holmes Chapel, became the fifth golfer to get a hole-in-one at the Cranage course when he aced the par-three fifth. He later celebrated in the clubhouse - where he met his wife-to-be Karen Taylor 18 months ago.
The couple now plan to tie the knot in July. Jon said: 'I couldn't believe it when I got my hole-in-one, it made my day. I've never come close in three years before. Woodside must be a lucky place for me because it is where I met Karen as well.'
Meanwhile, Carl Morris, of Meeanee Drive, Nantwich, who won the Rease-heath Junior Championship on Saturday, has snapped up his first hole-in-one at the age of 15! The teenager holed out in his first shot on the first hole, at Reaseheath GC. The Malbank School pupil has only been playing golf for three years, and is also a member at Brookfield GC.
