VALE Royal Athletic Club runner Nicky Archer swapped the gloom of an English December for Spanish sunshine when she contested the Seville half-marathon.

Soaring temperatures did not knock Archer out of her stride and she finished in a personal best time of 76 mins 29secs in a high-class international field.

A week earlier, Archer retained the Sneyd 10-mile race title at Walsall, winning by two clear minutes in another pb of 59.29.
