AN Abbey Gate College student has won a call-up to the North West netball squad.
Year 8 pupil Sophie Bell has been picked for the regional under 13s team.
As well as playing netball for Abbey Gate, Sophie, who is from Saughall, plays for Cheshire and was recently recommended by her coach to trial for the North West team.
The trials were in Manchester where former England player Karen Greig was selecting the squad.
After two hours of hard and very competitive netball, Sophie impressed enough to earn a place in the squad.
She was due to travel to Sheffield yesterday to compete in a Junior Tri Regional Festival against the North East and Yorkshire.
