A TEENAGER ended up on the podium after completing his first ever rally.

Co-driver Jordan Joines, 15, of Great Sutton, teamed up with his uncle Danny for the Promenade Stages tarmac rally in New Brighton and finished second.

It was a superb result considering the fact the pair had taken their race-modified Vauxhall Nova SR to the event with no real expectations.

Whitby High School pupil Jordan said: “I have wanted to be a co-driver for some time but I had to wait until I was 15. I made sure I was ready when my chance came.”

Danny, 32, of Stanney Oaks, has been rallying for six years and had previously entered the Promenade Stages rally with Jordan’s father Carl, claiming the Best Novice prize.

But this time, with Jordan, everything clicked into place and they stormed through the stages to finish second in class two.

“At the start line it was nerve-racking as I had never been in that situation before,” said Jordan.

Their performance was good enough to complete the course in 19th position overall in a field that included World Rally Championship cars and professional teams.

Their rallying days are not over yet with another tarmac rally at Three Sisters raceway in Wigan on the horizon.

The pair are sponsored by Dunham Hill Garage in Frodsham.
