QUEEN of Speed Jenny Tinmouth is gearing up for a second season in the British Superbike Championship.

The 33-year-old from Ellesmere Port will return to the country’s premier motorcycle series thanks to the support of new and existing sponsors.

Tinmouth, who created history last year when she became the first woman to race in Superbikes, cannot wait to once again rub shoulders with some of the biggest names in the sport.

She said: “Racing Superbikes at this level requires a committed title sponsor. For this reason I am really pleased to have the continued support of sorrymate.com, who have partnered me since 2008, to share the title sponsorship with new sponsors Hardinge Machine Tools.

“It is fantastic to have Hardinge on board and we feel we have teamed up with an organisation that has a great pedigree in engineering as well as a full understanding of how a motorsport team works, having been involved in sponsoring motorsport for many years.

“It is going to be a busy season so it is great we approach it knowing we are well supported. I’m really looking forward to it.”

Tinmouth parted company with Splitlath Motorsport after just one ride in last season’s British Superbike Championship.

This season she will compete for the new Two Wheel Racing team launched by the Ellesmere Port-based Two Wheel Workshop and its commercial partners.

Tinmouth, who works as a mechanic at the specialist motorcycle service, repair and MOT centre on the Westminster Industrial Park, has spent the winter months preparing her new Superbike for next month’s season opener at Brands Hatch.

The Isle of Man TT female lap record holder will race a Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade formerly run in the EVO class of Superbikes by Craig Fitzpatrick – and which has been bought with the help of long-term backers Manx Glass and Glazing, GB Racing, friends and family.

Former TTXGP UK Championship winner Tinmouth, who spent four years competing on a Honda CBR600RR in the British Supersport Championship, will also return to Isle of Man for this year’s TT.

Martin Doyle, UK sales and marketing manager for Hardinge UK Ltd, said: “The prospect of supporting Jenny and her team in the forthcoming season is very exciting.

“We are delighted to become a title sponsor for her British Superbike campaign this year.”

The 2012 season at Oulton Park gets under way on Saturday with a spectacular festival of historic racing, featuring classic cars spanning the circuit’s six decades.

Tickets for the Masters Festival are available on the gate priced £16. Children under 12 go free.
