Ellesmere Port‘s first lady of motorcycle racing has launched a fan club in an effort to help fund her high speed dreams.

Jenny Tinmouth, who last month announced that she will once again compete in the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship, came up with the idea after some of her 20,000plus twitter followers asked how they could help fund her racing.

So Chester-born Jenny, 34, who made history last year by becoming the first woman to score a point in the British Superbike class, decided to set up the fan club as a way of rewarding fans and keeping them up-to-date with her racing news.

Jenny said: “I have had T-shirts and paddock caps printed which anyone who signs up as a fan club member gets along with a signed print and membership card.

“Then, throughout the season we will be holding competitions for tickets and possibly the chance to come on the starting grid with me as well as other goodies. And there will be a regular newsletter going out as well.

“The first competition for fan club members will be for a pair of Brands Hatch tickets, worth more than £60, for the opening round this Easter.

“It’s £80 to join the Race with Jenny Fan Club and I’ve already had a great deal of interest. I’ve posted out the first batch of T-shirts and stuff and the second batch is about ready to go.”

And Jenny says she has had an amazing response from race fans after the story announcing she was again taking to the BSB Superbike grid for another season appeared in the Ellesmere Port Pioneer and its sister paper, the Chester Chronicle.

She said: “The response was amazing after a link to the stories appeared on twitter. I had so many tweets and promises of help it has been just unbelievable.

“I had cash donations toward my racing fund from Germany, Holland, Switzerland and France as well as from UK fans. It just goes to show how  popular motorcycle racing is on the continent I suppose.”

Jenny, who runs Two Wheel Workshop on Westminster Industrial Estate with her partner and race mechanic, Steve Bradley, has spent the winter developing her 1,000cc Honda Fireblade racing machine.

She said: “I’m excited about the new season and we are hoping for a good year. We have had the spare engine tuned and worked on making the bike a bit lighter.

“We have done that by shaving off bits here and there, changing a few nuts and bolts for lighter material, stuff like that.”

She added: “At the end of the day I will always be up against it as we simply cannot compete with the big teams when it comes to finance. But we have done our apprenticeship and we are looking to move forward and try to push for the top 10. I know we can do it.

“I still have sponsorship from Manx Glass, Majestic Engineering of Bootle and Warrington-based sorrymate.com insurance. And now I’m getting help from my own fans too. And I’m so grateful for all their help and messages of support.

“I just can’t wait to get back on the start grid for the first race of the season, it‘s going to be an epic year!”
