ELLESMERE Port racer Jenny Tinmouth continued her barnstorming form with a second successive podium finish in the British Supersport Cup, writes Gareth Marshall.

In front of a large crowd at Snetterton, Tinmouth finished third in the cup race to leave her just nine points behind the table-topping Patrick McDougall.

After finding herself boxed in at the first corner, the Sorrymate.com Honda rider from Little Sutton battled fiercely, resulting in her overtaking the third-placed cup racer, Matthew Hoyle, on the last lap.

The race was preceded by a good run in qualifying by Tinmouth. She completed 21 laps, of which one was a second quicker than she had ever gone around the Norfolk track.

The 32-year-old was delighted she managed to then take that performance into the main race.

“I really enjoyed the race,” said Tinmouth.

“It was a fine and sunny day so the conditions were good. But I had to fight hard after what happened at the first corner so I was really pleased to take third place in the last lap.”

The result earned the mechanic 20 cup points and ensured she remained in second spot as well as extending her lead over third-placed Max Hunt to 10 points.

Tinmouth said: “I’m mega chuffed to be honest. I just hope I keep it going and make sure I stay near the top of the standings.”

The next round of the British Supersport Cup comes at Brands Hatch over the weekend of August 6-8, and Tinmouth is hoping herself and the rest of the Honda team can pick up in Kent where they left off in Norfolk.
