RIDERS from the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship will be in Chester this afternoon to promote this weekend’s big Oulton Park races.

Motorsport fans can meet their favourites and get up close to the Superbike machines in the town hall square at 2.30pm.

This season’s championship is shaping up to be a thriller.

HM Plant Honda’s Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne leads the standings by just 19 points going into the Oulton Park showdown, with American John Hopkins on the Samsung Crescent Racing Suzuki hot on his heels.

The pair know that every point will be vital in their quest for the title as they prepare to go head-to-head once more at the Tarporley track.

There will be local interest in the BSB support races with Frodsham Flyer Howie Mainwaring, Chester-born queen of speed Jenny Tinmouth and Broughton rookie Jamie Devine also expected to appear.

Adult tickets for the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park cost £10 on practice day (tomorrow), £12 on qualifying day (Saturday) and £30 on raceday (Sunday).

Children 12 and under can gain admission free.
