BOXING: VAUXHALL Motors ABC held their annual presentation evening at the Vaux-hall Motors Sports & Social Club on Friday.

Best Senior Boxer was the Pioneer's Male Sports Personality of the Year, Nick MacDonald.

Despite his continual injury problems which prevented him from going to the Olympics last summer and have ruled him out of the World Championships later this year, Nick still managed to win the ABA title and a gold medal at the prestigious Tammer Tournament in Finland.

Matty Fagan was named Best Junior Boxer on the back of his NACYP Championship success and gold medal at the Four Nations Championship. He was also runner-up in the ABAs.

Best Schoolboy Boxer was Buster Exell while the Most Improved Boxer was Carl McLeod.

The Peter Titherington Trophy for Clubman of the Year went to Paul Butler jnr.

All Vauxhall members who boxed this season received a commemorative T-shirt and medals were distributed to everyone attending regular sessions at the gym.

Diane Phelan was presented with a bouquet from the club in recognition for all her help throughout the season.
