HOCKEY: Winnington Park Danny Moores scored a last minute winner to sink Wrexham 3-2 on Saturday.

It was the visitors, however, who drew first blood, taking the lead after five minutes.

Park responded well to the early set back and equalised from their first penalty corner. Robin Bowdon weaved past two defenders before falling victim to a cynical foul inside the Wrexham 25 yard area.

From the resulting penalty corner, Mark Leigh drag-flicked the ball into the roof of the net for his seventh league goal of the season.

Wrexham regained the lead on the stroke of half time, after Park's Craig Rodgers and his opposite number had been both dismissed.

Goalkeeper John Paul Dodd produced a string of fine saves to prevent Wrexham extending their lead, while Park's forwards created chances.

It was Winnington who scored next through captain Adam Kueres. Receiving a long pass from Leigh on the halfway line, Kueres sprinted toward goal, leaving the Wrexham defence in his wake, beating the advancing goalkeeper with a reverse stick shot to the top corner of the net.

Moores had one of Park's best efforts when he deflected the ball fractionally over the bar and he netted the winning goal with virtually the last touch of the game.

Park 2nds went down at Wrexham 2nds 6-3 (Simon Pinson, Dominique Shrubb, John Lavin) ending a winning run over three months.

Park 3rds won at Crewe Vagrants 4ths 4-2 (Sam Cloake 2, Johnny Kettle, Will Eggle-stone)

Winnington won an under 13s friendly against Alderley Edge 3-1 (James Charlton 2, Conner Miller).
