HALTON Stadium experienced both sides of the coin in the Widnes & District Darts League's play-offs.

It fell in their favour as they defeated RAOB to take the Karalius Bros RTB Section's Division One championship but went against them in the Cheshire Roof Trusses 501 League's title decider against Widnes Bowling Club.

These head-to-heads had been needed after the teams concerned ended the regular season level on points.

Stadium twice led early on against WBC through Alan Moran and Alan Clark only for Bowler to respond each time.

Joe Batty won his singles game and then came up with a 110 finish in an 18-dart doubles leg for which he was partnered by Alan Magee.

Gordon White & Jason Haddock (123 finish) made it 3-2 to Bowler.

Joe Price & Kurt Mathews (Stadium) squared the contest but Bowler's Dave Houghton and Alan Magee won successive singles games to see their side home.

John Bowles' anchor leg triumph was little consolation for Stadium in a 5-4 defeat.

However, they came good in the RTB play-off, defeating Buffs by the odd leg.

John Bowles opened with a 17-darter but Buffs responded to go 2-1 up through Brian Dutton (18 darts) and Dave Batty (20 darts).

John Bowles & Alan Clark equalised in 20 darts and Stadium proceeded to take the next two through, Alan Moran & Eric Peel and Joe Price & Kurt Mathews (17 darts).

They then sealed the win thanks to Phil Corless.

At least Buffs took the remaining two games through Damian Eustace (14 darts) and Tez Gallagher (17 darts).

* FINALISTS in the Cheshire Roof Trusses 501 Pairs are Karl Windisch & James Baines, Alan Magee & Ste Jones.

* THE Elizabeth Whitfield Cup preliminary round saw Widnes Bowling Club gain a comeback victory over Cricketers 5-4.
